Interpreting
Consecutive interpreting is suitable for smaller or bigger groups where interpreting from or into only one language is required. The speakers pauses occassionally to allow longer passages to be rendered in the other language.
Consecutive interpreting is often used during formal occassions, dinner-speeches or welcome addresses. Please note that consecutive interpreting requires double the time you might have planned. If the speaker’s address is 5 minutes long, the interpreter needs also approximately 5 minutes or slightly less to interpret the message.
Simultaneus Interpreting is suitable for bigger groups or conferences and is a must if there are more than 2 official conference languages. The message is conveyed into the other language at the same time. Simultaneous interpreting is often used at conferences, business meetings, supervisory board meetings, during surgeries or for TV and radio. A booth for the interpreters equipped with special technology is necessary. Alternatively a mobile interpreting device can be used. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Chuchotage is used in conference settings, meetings or discussions, intervies or talks for max. 3 people.

is suitable for face-to-face communication including negotiations, informal talks, business- or round table meetings. The interpreter sits among the participants and is part of the group. For liaison interpreting no technical equipment is needed and morst of the time it is am ix between simultanous and consecutive interpreting depending on the situation.
Courses or further training is very often interpreted consecutively. A close cooperation between lecturer and interpreter is necessary to ensure a smooth running of the class.
Due to time constraints or other issues it is sometimes not possible to gather all participants at one place. Analyst calls, extraordinary supervisoryboard meetings or even interpreting between patients and doctors can thus be performed via telephone. As with Telefone interpreting it might not be possible to bring all the participants together. Interpreting can be performed with the interpreters being not present in the conference spot but following the conference via screen and interpret remotely.

Yes, it really does exist! Simultaneous translation can be used if deaf people participate in a conference or if an online-press-conferences takes place. By using speech regocnition software or in a caoolaborative effort between interpreter and secretary the source text is rendered in writing.
